Hello there... I've been reading your forums on bulldog dry food & decided to join. Your information has been invaluable, but it's overwhelming w/all the different choices out there!!!
Here is my bully history... we had 2 english bulldogs Bella & Winston. My husband got Bella as his retirement present, and he decided to breed her last year. She had 8 puppies, and we decided to keep Winston. We had the unfortunate luck of losing the runt Wellie in April because he had severe hydrocephalus & spinal issues. This about killed me because he was the sweetest little guy... Then last week we lost Bella during her spay, we are absolutely heartbroken over losing our beloved Bella. I'm at a complete loss over losing these 2 beautiful babies...
Winston had some gastro upset so I took him to the vets... I wasn't sure if it was related to losing Momma or just the heat. After I got on here I realized that the food I was giving him Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy may have not been the best choice for him so I've been doing some research. I'm not really sure what to start him on, but my vet suggested Purina Formula One?!! I don't really understand why he would want me to put him on Purina at all... his Mom had allergy issues, and he seems to be following suit. Any suggestions on what to start him out on I would really appreciate... he's only 6 months old!!!
Thanks you so much!!!

to EBN!
. Your bullies are adorable, and I'm so sorry for loss... Nitschke is beautiful!!!
Winston is very handsome! Fromm's makes a great puppy food, Puppy Gold that is really great for them.
to EBN, you've definitely found the right place to call a home for English Bull Dogs…. Like you, I consult my Vet for many questions, He's a MD for my Bully, but isn't specifically specialized Bully MD if that makes sense….. Why he would reccoment Purina is anyone's guess, It's like "Junk Food" for our pets, They eat it, but their not really being fed by it. I'm going to enclose a thread from the Articles section of this site, and it names of the best to worst foods in a Ratings style, and alphabetical, so Please don't think No #1 on the list is best. I feed my guys Blue Buffalo Salmon and Potato, Grain free diet, it's rated 6*'s but seeing their fur coats is believing. Very soft, shiny !! But some Bully's have allergies, to things like Chicken, Potato, some of the members here cook daily for their Bully's and some cook once a week, refrigerate and feed. Loosing a Pet, for me speaking personally is Overwhelming…. The Love, Care, and for me…. I'm Selfish, I want my pet to be in my life until death do I part, I know it's unrealistic, But to tell you how Sad I am for your loss is beyond what words can describe. I'll definitely add you and your family to my thoughts and prayers. Rocky was the runt of his litter, But at 50 lbs…. He's doing quite well for himself now. I hope to read many more posts from you, and so look foreword to pictures, Were definitely a picture happy family here. Please hang in there, and hang tough…… Enjoy the site, and the best information found anywhere on the web…..
