My males private parts....

Hey all. So I have had my adopted male for over a month now, and a few days ago I noticed the outside of his privates (I think it's called their "sheath" lol) has gotten pretty red... Just at the tip where his urine comes out. It's not his actual man part though. I researched proplapsed urethra and I do not think this is it... As nothing is sticking out... Help!!!! I don't want the big guy in pain although he acts completely fine while he pees...would there be anything I can put on it to help? When my females lady parts get a rash near them I usually just carefully put desitin on it... But I've never had a male dog so I'm lost!!! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I would just clean it and see how it looks in the morning. I wouldn't put anything on it right now. If it gets worse tomorrow, then a vet visit may be in order. Sometimes they just get a little irritated and cleaning it helps.

You could put some neosphorin on it maybe?

I agree with Davidh just to wash it with plain water and dry with a paper towel or cloth. Do it for two or three times a day for a couple of days. Where its located it could be just where urine, after he pees, has kept it moist and it got irritated.

Thank you all!!! I will continue to clean it and hope it looks better tomorrow... Not used to having male dogs, so this is new! I should've known though, I clean my girls "area" daily or else she gets pretty bad rashes!
