Meet Sumo!

Meet Sumo! Now 4.5 months and 7/8 English bulldog and 1/8 beagle (to help with some breathing problems).

I'm a first time puppy owner and he's the light of my life. In the 2 months I've had him, we are working hard on training. He knows sit, down, touch, spin, and come. Most of the time responds to stay and wait. And yesterday we just learned roll over! He's also learning to skateboard!

He even has his own Instagram (my co-workers insisted) @sumo_beabull.

So happy to have found this community forum. Learning so much.

Castor also learned to ride a skateboard as a pup, but then we fell out of practice . I now regret that we didn't continue so try to hang in there provided Sumo likes it and that he rides in a safe environment! This makes me think we should get a new board to our boy and see what he remembers!

I can offer no advice on that, I'm afraid. We got an old board from a charity shop to play around with. I don't know anything about skateboards but you're right it has to be pretty big - I guess a little wider than the bulldog so that he can stand safely. Overall, I think safety is the most important issue - you don't want the board to goo too fast, for instance. That was a good thing with the old board we had - no risk it would outrun Castor! There are a lot of youtube videos of skating bulldogs so perhaps if you look at them you will see what kinds of boards they've got?
