Lola
After being TERRIBLY sick all weekend (puking, weak, no eating or drinking, she would try and poop and nothing and than today projectile diarrhea) the vet told me that Lola would have died by morning if she hadn't been treated.....I feel like a bad mommy because I couldn't find an emergency vet for her yesterday. :ashamed:

OH NO!!! Don't feel bad! What was wrong?

The vet said pancreatitis, with intestinal bacteria and a fever! I am NEVER leaving her with anybody EVER again.

You left her with someone?? What's the story? Yes, I am nosy. Really, don't feel bad....you are a good bully parent and you took her in and got her all fixed up.

Oh!! Poor baby!! Whats wrong?? Your not bad mommy!! Lola loves you to pieces!! :luv:

mandyjo never mind about the whats wrong part, just read it?? Did the people she was being watched by not notice her throwing up or diarrea?? I am sooooo sorry!!! She will get better now.

Nobody is nosier than me!!!! Yes, my husband and I had to leave town for five days so we left her with my parents (they have five acres of property with a creek that connects to a river in the back). They also ended up having to leave so they called my moms friend to watch Lola and their dog. Anyway, we went to pick up Lola at about midnight and when we pull into the driveway (which is 1/2 mile long) Lola comes running up to me, she was just running free! The next day, I paid the lady and asked why Lola was out and she said that she had escaped the kennel and had been out almost the whole time.....so later she starts throwing up, acting really quiet. During that night she is acting like she is throwing up, doesn't eat, and starts peeing/pooping in the house!!! Than yesterday, I call the vet (only one in town) and he is not available for emergency but the vet tech says to keep her in kennel, give her pepto and limit water and food. I tried and she vomited the pepto and we would go outside and she tried to poop and nothing came out all day. That happened all day and night. Today I called the vet and said I was bringing her in without an appointment, and when I open the garage door she has projectile diarrhea (it shot across half of the garage stall, I'm sorry I know that is beyond gross). She was not being cooperative and the vet actually asked me if Lola didn't like people or had trust issues. Oh lordy.......I am sorry this is so long!

oh, geez....no, she doesn't have trust issues....she is ILL. DUH. I am so sorry that the person that was supposed to be watching her, wasn't. Wonder what really caused it...think she ate something?

I think she did. Matilda woul of ended up that sick if I didn't take her in when she got sick last. But the question is, what was it??

It is incredibly hot and humid here and the creek is stagnant.....the vet and I think that she took a drink of water that had bacteria in it. He said her white count was really low, so the bacteria spread from her intestines. He said that she would have died by morning if I wouldn't have brought her in. And he changed is tune about her not trusting people after she crawled into my lap and buried her face in my chest when they were doing the IV. She got a bag of IV fluids, shot of antibiotics and something to make the puking stop. He also sent me home with three medicines to fight off the infection in her intestine and pancreas. She has been sleeping in her "cave" for a couple of hours and drank some water so I hope that is a sign of progress ???

My Baby had EXACTLY the same thing! It happened after our old vet dipped him and he ended up at the emergency vet with IV's for 3 days. We immeidiately took him to a new vet, a bulldog specialist, who said that these things happen and we might never know the cause. He took a few days to get back to his old self.

Glad you got her help in time and hope her recovery happens quickly!

Wow!! My foster had pancreatitis when she got into a whole loaf of garlic bread. It's scary stuff. You are an excellent fur mommy for taking her in as soon as you did. I think I would have had a really long talk with your mom about who she has watching her dog. Good luck!

Hope Lola makes a quick recovery. So sorry this has happened to you and Lola. Will have Lola in my prayers.
