5 months and he still thinks he is a lap dog. Do they ever grow out of it?

Nope. Harlea still thinks she is a lap dog at at 10 months. She still has to be between my legs when I am in my recliner.

I dont think so! Lilly is now 11 months and her special talent is to throw herself at me every time i manage to sit on the sofa ;-)

Just a thought.... In the car, I require Charley to wear a doggie seatbelt. If I have to stop fast, I sure don't want a flying bulldog hurt me or have a bully hurt by an airbag! I use the kurgo brand seatbelt. They can sit in the back seat and move around, yet stay safe. Plenty of lap time at home.

Aww cute. Delilah sat on my lap while I drove all the time when she was a puppy. Occasionally she still tries at 4 years old, LOL. sometimes she tries to sit on us on the couch.

Mine have never outgrown the lap dog stage.
I agree though, in the car a harness is safest for them. You never know what the crazy drivers around you are doing
