I need help asap

Oh boy, I'm so sorry to hear this about Jovi. Very hard to say what's wrong w/her w/out further tests. Please keep us updated on tomorrow's visit and x-rays. We are thinking of Jovi and you!

i ran to petsmart and got some asprin that works as a pain reliever and anti imflamitory. we gave her one of her pains meds given by the vet 3 hours ago (she gets 1 tab every 8 hours) would it be okay to give her asprin? or would that be too much. tomorrow I have to work but my boyfriends grandma is going to bring her in to get xrays. I just made her go outside and she was able to stand long enough to pee. She has not actually gone poop though in a few hours, I would say about 5 hours and that was before I made her eat her food. So i am wondering if she has to but it hurts to much to do that.... :[

Ummm, not so good, April...depending on WHAT the issue is, aspirin could cause internal bleed..
Get her in asap, apply for Care Credit, borrow from family, etc but her symptoms are very worrisome.
Praying right now and please let us know what Vet says...can you help her get out w/sling and use to
help lower her too...poor baby :(

So sorry this happening, but I wish t's nothing bad. Sending positive and healing thoughts.

I am sending Prayers for Your Sweet Jovi, Please keep us updated on how she is doing, I am thinking about her so much with Positive Thoughts.

This is probably unrelated to your baby but I had a dog once that acted the same way. I rushed him to the vet because I thought he was dying. I had a wonderful, very aged and knowledgable vet at the time and he said it was a reaction to a tick. We couldn't find and but he promised that was the problem. He treated him with the flea and tick meds, frontline I think, and he recovered quite quickly. I hope you find the problem and your baby recovers. Sending lots of love your way.

Really... I had no idea... Please explain so I know for future reference. Thx

and he said it was a reaction to a tick.

totally forgot about this, but it was the first thing the checked for when Banks was sick a few weeks ago... Tick born disease . Thanks for the reminder.

@xxrilrose .... Please keep us posted. Sending many prayers Nd positive thoughts

Praying for your Jovi that all will be okay. They symptoms also sound like Lyme disease. Has she had a tick lately. Possible that they can have one and it releases before you notice.

OMG I didn't even think about that. Actually when I took her to the vet last saturday her kidney levels were a little high and the vet kept asking if I have ever noticed fleas or ticks on her and I said no. And then later on she asked me again. Again, I said no. I have never seen any on her and I check frequently. But she said her kidneys were high because of parasites so when I got to a non emergency vet to get that checked.... What is this is the case?!?!

Okay... on to the story of today. Last night she pee'd in her sleep. I woke up in a pool of pee, and she did it literally while sleeping. But when I got up, I picked her up and put her on the floor and OMG she stood up! She walked right to the door with no limp and walked right outside to potty, and came in. I thought it was a miracle.... no.

So I headed off to work as my boyfriend was dropping her off at grandma's to bring her to the vet. I unfortunately could not call in being a Saturday, which kills me... Anyways, to the story. The vet checked her out and come to find out the Asprin we bought and gave her last tight was NOT suppose to ever ever ever be taken by a dog. (it was the GNC kind of dog asprin they sell at PetSmart) she said she doesn't know why they would EVER sell anything like that. But because she took it within 24 hours they could not perform any X-Rays. So that will be done on monday and we threw out the Asprin. The vet checked her legs and asked what we have noticed, said she was limping on her right leg now has no motor skills in both back legs. (but of course was walking just fine today for the vet) and they also explained that I have been hearing cracking noises in her joints as I pick her up to go down the stairs, or anything. And the vet said thats it. That's exactly it. Her legs are bad. The bones are not strong enough and are limb. They are cracking and not moving properly. The only way to correct it would to be to do surgery, but would not talk about this until after X-Rays. But pretty much if we do not get the surgery done she will be in pain the rest of her life and her back legs will be immobile. It would be $1200 per leg, and that is just the surgery. We would have to pay for X-Rays, Anesthesia, edication and ect. Also, there is no guarantee that any of this will work. I am trying not to get ahead of myself.... in fact since the X-Rays were not given I am hopin that it really was just a tick :[. The new vet did not take her kidney levels, or even know about it because they did not ask the emergency vet to fax the papers like I had given instructions to do so. So the new vet doesn't even know that information! I guess we will find out more monday but that was my awful morning :[

Wait.. what?? I don't understand.. she quoted you 1,200 per leg without even taking an x-ray, and knowing exactly what kind of surgery is needed? Or even if it's needed?? Either I'm missing something, or your vet sucks donkey balls. Seriously, that's asinine. Just because she's cracking doesn't mean surgery.

yeah thats what I have gotten from my bf's grandma. Again, I wasn't there to get all the details so I am unsure if anything was interpreted wrong or not expressed to me. I am already annoyed I could not have been there. But yes, she did quote that and said that the surgery is almost 100%, but we need to get X-Rays done first... I don't know maybe she just felt it in her legs? I have no idea.

April, can you call and talk with the vet yourself?

they are closed right now until monday :[ which is when she is going for x-rays.

i honestly just dont understand. this is all a roller coaster for me... she is playing right now, a little limp and when she is stepping over something she tucks that leg in to avoid hitting it or using pressure on it, but she is walking...

yeah, don't presume anything needs to be done for certain until x-rays are taken and they know exactly what's wrong. Then, I would those x-rays to an orthopedic specialist and see what they have to say. She might just need pain management and not full blown surgery. But again, no one can really say anything for certain without x-rays.

I'll keep you guys posted, especially on monday after the x-rays. she is also eating her third bowl, her second bowl since i got home an hour again. (sorry i wanted to feed her since she is finally eating)

Glad she is eating now. I agree, see what the vet says after the x-rays, then get a second opinion from an orthopedic specialist if you don't like what the vet has to say. I hope it was just a pinched nerve and she starts to improve.
