How common is it for Bulldogs to hump incessantly? He humps all 3 dog beds in our house, pillows from the couch, patio cushions, stuffed animals. We had his testosterone level checked a couple of months ago: it's in the normal range for a neutered male.

We brought him home in July from a rescue. He is approximately 5 years old (best guess). Ours is a busy household with 2 smaller dogs, 2 adults (husband and me), and 3 teens (13, 14 and 18).

It's not that common for them to hump everything, even though some will hump occasionally. Tell him NO when you see him doing it, so he will figure out it is not acceptable.

I have always heard that humping is a sign of dominance... so David is right, just tell him no and see what happens.

"No" doesn't work, but the squirt bottle does most of the time.

Consistent correction with the water bottle will stop him, but he’ll always try to do it.i use the word ‘off’ ...

Electric collar stops humping and prevents in the future. Association between humping and unpleasant bzz forms quick.

rileycat1971 NO does work, I use it with ours all the time and when I say it, they know I mean business. We had a Beagle once and the water bottle didn't work with her, she thought it was a play toy.

Whatever works keep doing it. Be persistent as eventually he will stop.

Yes, you must be consistent with saying NO when he starts humping. If the squirt bottle works, then say NO with a squirt. My French Bulldog will try to hump Louie when they are playing which is a sign of dominance.

You know what else works? Prozac. He has calmed down a lot since starting on it last month. Plus, his acute attachment issues are mellowing.

Prozac, squirt bottle and NO.
