This Magpie had too much guts... Flew a few times around my head so I stood away from the bowls not to get attacked. By fluke I had my phone on me. Nyala even stopped eating to go after it. Jake ate all his food first then went after him. Lol...Nyala was eating in circles to keep an eye on it then both went for the magpie.

Great pictures ! Magpie is basically a crow, right ? From what I read about crows in Vancouver they can recognize faces and if they think you wronged them they will preferentially dive bomb you over other people. My wife once saw a crow take out a baby's eye so you don't want to take them lightly.

I find magpies are more sh*t disturbers. Yes, when I was living in Vancouver n you know how it rains there, I had my black jacket with my hood on. A crow zoomed over my head... someone walked by said remove your hoodie. Worked. Seems crows don’t like black especially if you’re covered up. Now I always wear bright jackets lolll

I love these pics... and I LOVE your sunflowers!!!

I was driving across Canada to head home for a visit east side n in Saskatchewan along a good stretch of the highway was these sunflowers BUT they were only 2’ tall. I figured I’ll stop n grab some on my way back which I did. I took only 2 plants. I have absolutely no clue why when I seeded them this spring they came out 8 square feet. Waaaay too big for where they stand. I’ve taken seeds out for next year so I can put them in a corner or something to hide.

Great pictures! You know, magpies like silver so perhaps they were after the bowls rather than the food?! Magpies are indeed quite irritating but I've heard them referred to as parrots of the North and they are in fact quite beautiful when they don't pester you!

Great pics Helene. The annoying bird is cool looking.

Your two haul arse after the bird and mine haul arse to get away from butterflies.

They are beautiful birds indeed. When I remove the bowls and dogs in the house, the magpie walks around looking for bits. They even go after the marrow bones if I leave them outside.

I'm not sure which meant business more.... the bird or the pups! Neither was backing down

Strange that magpies are only in western North America, I've never seen one here in Toronto. The crows and ravens we have here are quite sinister looking.
