Does anyone know what this black spot may be on Bella's side? It's on both sides about the same size I thought maybe her skin turned dark in spots but it being in the same spot on each side I'm not so sure about.

Hm? maybe alopecia x? It's a little blurry…I can't tell if it's the fur or under the fur (the skin)

Maybe she crawled under a truck?

It's been there for like a month it won't wash off its like her skin turned dark right there

That's how Monty's started, then got bigger and the hair came out. Now the hair has grown back but you can still see the dark skin underneath. The pictures on the Facebook link I posted are pretty extreme. Check this site out for many pictures of it. Monty saw his bully vet and dermatologist while he had it (for other things) and they both said the same thing, Melatonin.

Carlie had this one year, and all skin and hair grew back to normal. Maude had it, and she never grew all the hair back on one side. I was giving melatonin,Martha got a dark spot, but then it faded and went back to normal.DSCF5330.JPGHere you can see Maude's dark skin. bella100 NuStock will help grow the hair back. Having more than one dog,I couldn't use it because the others keep licking it off!

i think its seasonal flank alopecia, which happens to a lot of dogs, and is not painful. There is no cure, but it might go away on its own. You can try adding salmon oil or frozen salmon dog food to the diet, or rubbing vitamin E capsules or coconut oil on the skin. If it were an allergic reaction or mites, it would not be dark skinned underneath, and it would be super itchy.

Seasonal flank alopecia, save your self from the trip. There's really not much you can do and it's not painful for the dog. Some say Melatonin helps. Some get it every year, other just once.

Yep seasonal alopecia...Abbott developed this over the summer and we gave him 3 mgs of melatonin everyday til it was gone.Technically I think your suppose to give them this all winter but we haven't been.

bella100, how did this work out, did you try the melatonin?
