Having trouble getting in contact with my Breeder

Here are the questions ( Background: This is my 3rd bulldog ( first one raised from a puppy), I know of all the possible health issues - but I still love them. I also have a great dane- I actually grew up with them.

Bad back Leg
- Ever since Chloe was a puppy she's had a bad back leg. Not dragging per se but she does have a hard time standing up. from laying down. When she was only a few months old , I took her to the vet in they told me to just keep and eye out on it. At her year check up. I was told she might have a lame leg ( this was a new vet btw) and that she also may have hip dysplasia and may need surgery
The vet was also very concerned about the puppy's breathing mixed with her timidness and nervousness ( that's a whole another story)

- Aggression
She also been showing some aggression not with other dogs, but with me. Anything I go to put her chain on she's snaps at me and does the whole catch me if you can.
After months of calling my breeder he responded in Oct,?( he contacted me after communicating back and forth with my friend and stated that he's willing to take the pup back to work on her aggression issues, and that he's has a few other clients that are having the same problem. However as of this day I haven't heard from him and he won't return my calls
We touch on about the health issues of the Chloe and he mentioned that bulldog actually serves no purpose. Amazing huh

Our contract states that the dog must be evaluated by him first ( aggression, returning, vet ect) and I am trying so hard to honor the contract

Sounds like he's not in compliance with the contract. Im not a patient person when it comes to situations like that, and if he's not responding , I wouldn't worry about contacting him further. This just makes me angry hearing this. We don't reach out to our breeder but have after months, even a year to ask about things but I look things up and I joined this group to ask questions, so take comfort in that, lots of experience here and you are not alone.

Back leg, did the vet diagnose the leg or is he/she still diagnosing?

Aggression, has Chloe done a. Basic training class? We took Canelo to basic training when he was 3 months because he was a stinker. It helped a lot, but even after that, he was rough playing and we had to work with him on biting between 3 - 12 months old. My husband and I had matching bruises on our forearms from Canelo biting us and not knowing his strength. He was also biting the kids during play, kids being nieces and nephews, we don't have kids. Now at 3 he's Mr. Zen but we watch him with everyone because we have seen him get irritated and react. Your doing good.

If he says other people are having aggression problems, also-it sounds like he has breeder dogs that shouldn't even be used for breeding due to disposition and possibly inferior genetics. Many people can have problems with bulldogs no matter how good the lines are-but his statement didn't sound right to me. So far(knock on my wooden head) I have not had any aggression problems-except an occasional "fight" over a toy among the dogs, which I stop immediately. If I were you, I would try keeping her harness and leash on when you are home, and
just picking the leash up every so often and walking her around the house. When you have a chance-walk her out side. I leave my dogs step-in harnesses on all the time
too tedious to keep putting four on and off. If you do okay with that strategy-then you can try the next step, which would be taking harness and leash off and putting it on. You could give her a special small treat if she behaves and does okay. If this doesn't work, maybe someone has a better plan. You may need to have a professional trainer-or take her to school. No dog of mine is EVER allowed to show aggression towards me! As for her hips and breathing-I would find an English Bulldog specialist in your area, and have her checked out. Stay far away from that idiot breeder-unless you want to return your dog.I think HE has no purpose on this earth.(but mun aaaaaaaaay!)

Thanks so much for your help. I will definitely try the harshness and leash method. I never even thought about it. I am so glad that I posted my questions. Yep I gave up on him and won't even contact him anymore. I am also looking around for bulldog specialist

I'm having the exact same problem, with a slight difference. The first time we needed our breeders help, she called after a week of 2 emails & phone calls. BUT when I asked if either one Chubbs' parents had cherry eye, nada! That was 1.5 months ago.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am going with another member's suggestion and contact the AKC

they haven't truely diagnosed the leg issue yet. I am taking her to a bulldog specialist soon. She's been to basic training and listen to all commands just having problem with agression. So I am trying a new method for the next couple of weeks and hopefully it works out

[MENTION=10898]bulldoglover22[/MENTION] We contacted the AKC before purchasing Chubbs & both the breeder & his mother were registered. They had been for awhile. We even contacted the vet she uses. The breeder has been using them for years. I know she has liters often but it still crappy. :-/

My Bulldog and her mom is registered as well. I contacted the AKC and they said even though it's unfortunate they can't get in between buyers and breeder issues. I can write a letter and send it to compliant department and the AKC may contact the breeder if they see fit. So basically a lose lose situation

I am glad to see this post(not glad that this has happened to you) but I too was very upset with my breeder(second pup I have gotten from her). My pup came with uti, geridia, horrible ear infections and I am assuming was kept in a tiny crate 24/7 because we have a lot of crate training to undo. I did not think to contact the akc but I certainly will. She also has not gotten back with me. Not that I would ever send this pup back to her. She gave me an excuse that I could not come to her home because she does not want people in her home due to her kids. I bought that because it sounded feasible. I recently found out her "kid" is 18.

Just an update. I took Chole to the vet, about the issue of her hind leg. She actually has a loose knee cap. Right now it's nothing to worry about but in the future it could potentially be a big problem. My vet actually told me " You have a genetic hot mess on your hands" =( This furthers my thought that I actually purchased this sweet girl from a questionable breeder. She's also constantly peeing in the crate right in front of me. The vet has ruled out a UTI we have no idea what to do

Has anyone experienced this

the loose knee cap can be common in bulldogs... Nitschke had this and he did end up needing surgery at around 3 or 4 yrs old to help correct it.
