I have been through so much with Lola and her limping, but now she has taken a turn for the worst. It seems like all of a sudden Lola is becoming lamer in her right hind leg, barely able to get around and it looks like she is in pain when she tries to get around. She is much worse when she is just waking up or getting off the couch, and nows tries to scoot around when she can rather than to walk. We have tried resting her, not going on walks, I have her on joint supplements X2 daily, Adequan injections now, and pain meds and nothing seems to be really helping. I have seen the vet in the past so many times about her limping, x-rays taken, and he was unable to diagnose her with anything, although I feel like all signs point to hip dysplasia. Should I take her in to the vet again now that she seems worse? It has been a while since I have taken her to see our vet. We also live in a small city (no ortho vet specialist to my knowledge)..... Ugh I am so heartbroken, I don't know where to go from here! Advise???

Hi, I'm so sorry you're going through this with Lola. I was going to suggest taking her to see a Orthopedic surgeon, but you mentioned there may not be one in your area. Have you asked your vet if he can recommend someone, maybe in a nearby town? He would have access to specialists in your area or State, and if you can't get to him, maybe your vet could send him the X-rays and he could assess her by phone with your vet. You can also take some videos of her when she is in pain, or when she is scooting, or limping so the vet can observe what is happening to her. I hope she is okay.

I'm sorry to hear this about Lola. Monica has give some great advice.

Is the Washington State U. Vet school accessible to you? you may want to try contacting them to see if they can be of any help or give you a good referral. It sounds like Lola will be needing something for her pain so please give your vet a call and explain what is going on. Poor thing, please keep us posted.

I agree w/the gang… poor girl, I'm so sorry that she is hurting so much. Keep us posted on what the vet says to do…

LolaLover - totally agree with Monica. Its time for a specialist if her regular vet can't diagnose. Something is obviously wrong, and I would get an appointment in with specialists asap. Praying for Lola baby, hope they can find the problem so you can start working on a good solution for her!

Thank you guys! Yeah WSU is about a 4 hour drive away, but I am almost desperate I might be willing to drive there. Thank you everyone for your well wishes and advise :)

I'm so sorry this is happening, I pray it can all work out.

If you can not get to WSU, maybe bring your xrays to another vet, and get his/her opinion. It could even be a back problem, not just a leg problems. Before I had back surgeries, the pain was also down my legs. It doesn't sound like your vet is helping her enough. I am wishing you and Lola all the best. Hope you can find answers for her soon.:pray:

Also look into laser or water therapy.... my girl had great results with laser, it really help relieve the pain

I would love to get her doing some water/laser therapy, but unfortunately there is nothing like that in our city or surrounding areas. It's really frustrating living in a small city!

I took Lola to the vet and it looks like she has a CCL tear in her left leg :( Poor baby. We are scheduled for surgery next tuesday. I hope everything goes well, I'm very nervous!!!!

So very sorry to hear about this - but the surgery will hopefully get her all fixed up! Is your vet experienced with bullies?

Hi, I so happy to hear that they were able to figure out what was causing Lola's pain. I'm sorry that she has a CCL tear and now requires surgery, but at least you know the cause and it can be repaired. I had the same question, is your vet experienced with EB's?, and most importantly has he ever done this type of surgery before? Some surgeries are more delicate than others and are better done by a specialist. You mentioned that there is a specialist 4 hours away from you, maybe if your vet doesn't have experience or hasn't done a lot of these type of surgeries, it would be better done by the specialist. I would ask your vet these questions before her surgery. I hope everything goes well, please keep us posted.

I really grilled him about this too. I asked if he ever did a TPLO on bulldogs with their structures being the way they are, and he said that he does have experience with this and has done TPLOs on several bulldogs with great outcomes. He put me somewhat at ease, but I am so nervous putting Lola through this but I know she needs it. I just want her to feel better. Ugh I hear the recovery is the worst, anyone with TPLO experience?
