Hello,

I seeking some advice for my little boy who is just five months. His front legs are turning out, we took him to the vet. The vet’s opinion is that nothing can be done about and it will only get worse.

I spoke to the breeder he advised using a supplement Pet Joint https://m.dogspot.in/petjoint-supple...og-60-tablets/, for 15 days.

Please let me know your thoughts and advice and what you folk have done, when faced with this type of deformity.

The sweetheart is currently feeding on Famina N&D Puppy.

Thanks a lot for taking you time, will appreciate your thoughts and advice.

Welcome! Could you post pictures of your little boy? It would help us to see exactly what his legs are like.

Some photos, will add more. Sorry for the bad pics. The little fella is too fast !

He is one very handsome boy! I'm no expert, but they look normal to me, just facing out due to haw he is sitting.

When he walks, does the paws look flimsy like not a solid walk..like they wobble shaking? If so, have your vet check for MPS. Basically MPS is the body can’t metbolize the sugar. Gives them deformities of the extremities. I’m NOT saying that’s what he has. Only if his feet when he’s walking are flimsy or wobbly. Then have him check for MPS. Just a thought.

Thanks a lot for your message. I’m sure the lad doesn’t have MPS. When he walks he has a solid walk not a flimsy one, it is not wobbly at all . . . his gait is somewhat like shuffling but not exactly. He doesn’t limp, walks steadily and can even sprint quite fast, without any issues.

One of the other signs of MPS is slowed growth, but he is quite the opposite at 5 months he has reached 15ā€ in heigh and weighs 18.4 kgs (about 40.5 lbs). Maybe it’s his weight.

Our home is tiled it could be because of that.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

It’s very rare mps but by only looking at photos is hard too say. Why I asked you how’s his walking. :). Glad he has a normal walk. Btw, supplements, it won’t dont much for 15 days. I’m sure others will answer you...just hang on.

Thanks so much for your time Helen! I don’t expect anything to happen in 15 days . . . just following what the breeder said and trying to get the flooring a little less slippery.

We've had a few come through with the same type posture. It didn't seem to bother the dog.
Smedley and I think his feets are perfect...
Bassettesque even.

What a handsome boy you have there! I don't think this is anything to be alarmed about. My Lincoln has a similar stance.

Our home has tile and wood and we have had to put runners everywhere because it was like a skating rink for Monty.

Is he still on puppy food? Of so I would put him on adult sometimes puppy food is to much for them and makes there bodies grow to fast. You could try a joint supplement to see if that will help to

This is what my breeder recommended as well. I switched Lincoln from puppy food to adult food at 4 months old.
