Ears

Probably the color…this was from an article posted on the Home page by Bullmama in 2011...

"According to the breed standard set forth by the BCA, here is what is stated:

"Color of Coat -- The color of coat should be uniform, pure of its kind and brilliant.
The various colors found in the breed are to be preferred in the following order:"

  • 1. red brindle
  • 2. all other brindles
  • 3. solid white
  • 4. solid red, fawn or fallow
  • 5. piebald
  • 6. inferior qualities of all the foregoing.

However, you should not let this particular standard of color deter you from starting your bulldog in dog shows/conformation.
There are many champions that are not red brindle
:)
If you and your bully have what it takes, go for it!"

Thank you for the information.

Bass' Dad was a show dog and I read up on it when he was a puppy - in case I ever decided to show him…I believe RoseBud ears are the "desired" look? But that was years back…I don't know if standards have changed. RiiSi knows a good amount of info for show dogs…are you thinking of showing?

Ah, Daphne is sooooo adorable.
Reggie's ears are kind of like Daphne's in the pic. Higher up on his head than hers maybe, and getting more rose-like all the time. But they are always perky and stood up like that. When he's led on his back he almost looks like a frenchie :)
