With Halloween upon us in less than a week, I always love asking people what kind of scary movies you have watched recently, OR, what is your favorite HORROR flick?

:halloween4::halloween16::halloween3::halloween2:

This weekend I rented a movie called The Orphanage...a creepy ghost story mystery. Luckily, it wasn't gory but unfortunately, it didn't make me jump out of my chair. Still, it was a decent movie that set the tone for Halloween.

A few of my favorite horror movies:

The Omen (the original)
Halloween (the original)
The Descent (British movie about cave explorers who are attacked by predators)....SCARY AS HECK!!!
The House That Screamed (from 1969)

The Decent is phenomenal! Wasnt as fond of second one.
Gruesome- Devils Rejects, Saw, Hostel.
Creepy/scary- The Crazies, 28 days later, Annabelle, The Ring and The Grudge.
Now I love The Fly, It, The Shining and all the "oldies" ;) I am a horror fanatic! ! Old, new, remakes, foreign, you name it! !

Re: Any good HOOROR movies lately?

cannot stand gruesome or gore so will not go there.

The 6th sense is one of my favorites. I was out in the field one year on duty so I was out of town. Why not kill the time and watch a movie. Major mistake, after the 6th sense, I wasted a hotel room with an ocean view. Had pillows on my face and had to turn on the light in the bathroom. What a waste and could not even sleep. My bonehead move. - LOL.

Ask bullmama she is the authority on recommending movies or series! I just watched a zombie movie with brad Pitt...world war Z...it was really good.

The Blair Witch Project
Hostel- I agree that it was very gruesome and sick. I winded driving through Slovakia shorty after seeing the film but couldn't enjoy it. Kept thinking of the "hostel."
The Ring
The Omen

eta: cali baker another one is "Fallen" with Denzel Washington. I was very creepy. Left me feeling weird when it was over.

Re: Any good HOOROR movies lately?

Oh this is a GREAT thread… my hubby LOVES B movie horror, so I have seen them all. I'm not a fan of the gruesome/gory type, I prefer the psychologically scary stuff. Especially if it's based on a true story…
Here is a FEW of my favs...

1. The Shinning
2. Sleepy Hollow… I watch this one EVERY Halloween!!!
3. The Conjuring… this was really creepy!!!
4. What Lies Beneath…
5. Shutter Island…
6. The Others…
7. Skeleton Key… I LOVE the whole voodoo thing… Lol
8. Mr. Brooks…
9. Psycho movies… the old ones
10. Halloween… the old ones, but I did see the one that Rob Zombie did & it was pretty creepy!!!

These are some really good movies you guys have listed. I enjoyed The Others and Sixth Sense a lot...love movies with a twist like that. Another one along the same lines is called Static. I don't think it was widely received but I saw this a couple wks ago and it had an interesting premise and was scary too!

Re: Any good HOOROR movies lately?

I just watched the Paranormal Activity marathon with Madison over the weekend. The scary parts were scary, the rest of the movie was dumb.

Re: Any good HOOROR movies lately?

Yeah, those films had a few "jump in your seat moments but for the most part, I didn't find any of them scary.
