What brand/type of yogurt does everyone use for their bullies? What age did you start giving it, and how much/how often?? What are the health benefits of using it?

Hi Carrie and Stella, I live in Canada, so I'm not familiar with all the brands of yogurt sold in the States, but I'm sure we have many of the same brands as you. It doesn't matter what brand of yogurt you buy, as long as its plain unsweetened yogurt. We usually buy our yogurt at Costco, we buy Libertie yogurt, and it comes in a two pack, but I have also used Biobest plain unsweetened yogurt. Some people use plain Greek yogurt as well, and some people like to use Kefir. We started adding yogurt to their kibble when they were about 6 months old, we put 1 Tbsp of yogurt on their morning kibble everyday. The benefits of adding yogurt to your dogs kibble is for the probiotics, it adds good bacteria to the gut, and therefore boosts the immune system, which is especially good for EB's because they can have allergies, and skin problems, so this can help with those issues. It is also beneficial for digestion. We also add apple cider vinegar to their drinking water everyday, we put 1 Tbsp. of pure organic ACV in the water, there are a lot of benefits to ACV, such as it kills the bad bacteria in your body, so boosts the immune system, it helps with bad breath, balances the Ph levels in the body, and it is a natural anti inflammatory. You can buy ACV at a health food store such as GNC, or Nutrition House, or at any Health Food Grocery store. I hope this helps.

Apple Cider Vinegar


Apple cider is known around the world as Mother Nature’s miracle medicine, a powerful weapon in the war against aging and disease that is more effective than many high-priced prescription drugs. When God created this fruit He designed it be a food and a medicine!
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is golden liquid concentrated with the healthy goodness of apples. It contains more than 30 important nutrients, 12 minerals, over 6 vitamins, essential acids and several enzymes. Moreover, it has a large dose of pectin for a healthy heart, and thus, healthy as a whole.
Many vitamins, minerals and other nutrients and substances are available in ACV to improve the health of your dog. ACV can provide them with enzymes and important minerals, such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, chlorine,

Natural apple cider vinegar is found in health food stores. It should be a rich amber color with the “mother” quite visible as sentiment on the bottom. The strength of vinegar is important. All varieties of vinegar contain about 4 to 7 percent acetic acid, with 5 percent being the most common amount. Acetic acid is what gives vinegar its tart and sour taste.
There is nothing beneficial about commercial distilled vinegars except for pickling, cleaning and disinfection —they have no health value!

Hi Monica, I just read your post on the benefits of Yogurt and I really appreciate all the detail you put into it. The article on apple cider vinegar was very informative as well. I knew apple cider vinegar had many health properties, though I didn't realize how many. I like to use Bragg unfiltered apple cider vinegar though I didn't know that you could put a little bit in the dogs drinking water to prevent those brown spots in the grass from their urine. I give my 2 bully boys "Mountain High" plain yogurt, and they really love it. Sometimes when my husband is eating a bowl of vanilla ice cream, he lets our bullies lick the bowl, so I usually put a little plain yogurt in their bowls and since it is a similar consistency and white colored, they "think" they're having ice cream !

Your welcome, and all these benefits are good for us humans as well. I also use Braggs ACV, I buy it from Nutrition House. I make a drink everyday for myself, I use warm water, 2 Tbsp of ACV, a little bit of honey, and the juice of half a squished lemon, and I stir it all up, and drink it. The honey makes it a little easier to drink because the ACV and the lemon are so sour, and acidic.

I use Fat Free Greek Yogurt, it has 3x the probiotics. Vegas gets 1 heaping tablespoon every night for his bedtime snack.

We use Kefir and plain yogurt. Harlea loves the stuff. She gets a bit of Kefir in the morning and a yogurt cube at night.

I give Ruthie any kind of yogurt as long as it's plain or vanilla. She really likes the greek yogurt though.

I give my doggies the Greek Fat Free Plain yogurt... I put a tablespoon on their kibble every morning!!! They love it...

My crew get Kefir. I make my own, it costs me less than 5 bucks a month to make and everyone in the house drinks it. We love it in smoothies! The dogs get 1 tbs twice a day.
The probiotic breakdown between it and yogurt looks like this...

1) Milk Kefir -- 2.6 Billion Colony Forming Units per milliliter (CFU/ml);
2) Water Kefir -- 1.2 Billion CFU/ml;
3) Greek Yogurt -- 60 Million CFU/gram (note for water, 1 milliliter = 1 gram);
4) Cabbage Sauerkraut -- 5.3 Million CFU/gram; and,
5) Store-bought yogurt -- 1.1 Million CFU/gram.

I give Brie Greek 0% fat yogurt w her breakfast. I also ave been adding a capful of Braggs acv in the water and have been for months but it hasn't prevented her urine browning the grass. I was hoping it would work!
