Who do I rotate my picture?

My 2 pictures (avatar and profile ) need rotating
Please can someone give me an idiots guide on how to fix them

Ive tried rotating the pic so its the wrong way on my computer/phone and re uploading it hoping it rotates to be the right way around... epic fail!!

I think it has something to do with how you are taking the photo and then the uploader rotates it for some bizarre reason.

It happens to me all the time when I upload from my ipad but not on my desktop computer at home for some reason.
