This or That: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

Which do you say during the holiday season? And why?

Merry Christmas because it is Christmas time for me.

Christmas is the traditional celebration in America, so it is appropriate... sure there are other religious based holidays this time of year, so no offense taken when their greetings are used as well, or even the generic "Happy Holidays" What I don't understand though are those that allow themselves to be offended by a traditional holiday greeting.

That's what happy holidays means to me too.

I think it's only a big deal because a few choose to make it one. Lucky for me I don't have to encounter those few often.
