My Early Gift to You

I think England, in general, make the best commercials (not that I'm biased!) but yes, John Lewis commercials are the best of all. I just got back and I can honestly say I enjoyed watching the ads as much as the actual programming!

That is great!

Love Elton. I have all his music even the vinyl albums. I saw him 7x in concerts. Even brought my eldest when he was 6yrs old. Concert was outside at Jarry Park in Montreal. And yes it’s his mom n grandmom gave him his first piano.

Thank you for sharing!! Beautiful commercial!

That's great!!! My sons first ever concert was when he was 8 and I took him and his cousin to see Elton John here in Houston. My son sat with his hands over his ears a lot of the time as he thought it was too loud! Growing up in England was fantastic as I got to see a lot of bands/singers before they became famous. Elton John, when he was just a piano player, Rolling Stones, performing in local pubs and Rod Stewart before he even started singing and was just one of the crowd. Good times and great memories.

Love Elton. Each time I hear this song, it gives me chills!! Didn't care much for the "stand ins...."

I think the 'stand-in' is the guy that is playing him in the new movie (Rocketman). They are scenes from the movie.

I’m going to make a post over in the “not bulldog talk” regarding the high quality of English movies, BBC ETC.

He’s on tour or going on tour...so you might see him again. I have a funny feeling this will be his last...

I really liked his old stuff when he and Bernie Taupin were in their hay-day. Some of the best music ever.

Have you seen the documentary on Two Rooms?

No, I haven't. Just listened to a few tracks from it, all so good. My favourite album of his is Tumbleweed Connection. Brilliant and I never tire of it.

Look it up...basically it’s how 2 guys that never wrote music together. Bernie lived in NY n EJ in UK. Bernie ships the poem/lyric/words n EJ composed the music to the lyrics... all this was done with a few days or just weeks... there’s more to the documentary.. interesting.

We have hijacked this thread!

Bernie is a Lincolnshire lad and comes from just a few miles away from where I am from. He moved to the States in the mid-70s. Elton John is from Pinner which is 7 miles from where I went to school. I was close to two major talents and had no idea at the time! Bernie was hitting the pubs in Lincs and I was hitting the pubs in London when I saw EJ playing the piano!! Amamzing what incredible music they came up with, a match made in heaven for sure.

wow,,, so nice to watch.....thanks for sharing :)
