Abbott's leg is hurt again..his sister thought it was a good idea to bulldoze him today and rolled him and now he's limping.I'll call the vet in the am of course but is baby aspirin good or bad..

Well, some say yes, some say no. On Petmed they say no, so I wouldn't

Agree with David, not sure, some say yes and others say no . :(. Hope he's ok!

I've read that aspirin is safe for short term use, a day or two, but never use Tylenol or Advil. If unsure ask your vet what he recommends.

If you're using regular 'human aspirin' as a pain medication for dogs, the recommended dosage is..

Between 5mg and 10mg per pound of body weight (maximum of 10mg) - given twice a day - that's one dose per 12 hours.

It might help to know that a standard adult Aspirin tablet is 320mg and a baby aspirin tablet is usually 80mg. So, if you have a 40lb dog the recommended dosage would be 200mg given twice a day. 200 mg is 2 1/2 'baby' tabs.

Anything over 30mg per lb is considered toxic!

I wouldn't give aspirin. It thins our blood I wouldn't risk this one

It's always best to stick with the ones that are for pets, but if absolutely needed aspirin can be given. 10mg/kg per body weight.

bullmama Abbott was still limping this am and was walking kinda on his toes so I called the vet and she gave me Vetprofen and told me if he's not better in a few days then she wants to see him. My parents bully sit during the day so I did a check on him at noon and he seems better so paws crossed. He is bigger than his sister but much more dainty. Lol..Thank you for asking about him :)
