Is a BOAS assessment dangerous?

Hi all, we’ve booked our Lara for a BOAS assessment in a few days and now I’m starting to worry! She’s fine with breathing and regularly does 2 hour walks (with plenty of breaks in between) a day in the colder months and she’s almost 6 years old. She has always been quite active and so far hasn’t had any breathing problems. I want to do a full BOAS assessment to check whether she has it but also because we want her to have puppies and keep one (or two because knowing me I can’t resist!). I was told the assessment will consist of a physical examination where her breathing will be monitored before and after exercise and then she will get put under anaesthesia and checked further, as well as having an x-ray done. I know that bulldogs are more at risk of dying during anaesthesia and now I’m starting to panic. I’m getting it done at a veterinary clinic that has a certified vet recommend on the British Bulldog Council website (though I’m not even sure this makes it better). Has anyone else in the UK done this before? Should I worry? I’m not a breeder but I just want to make sure she’s healthy and if she has puppies they are too but I don’t want to risk her life! I’d very much appreciate any advice/guidance/help from anyone on this!

Thank you!

I’ve had it done in US but only because of issues and it was to confirm surgery was needed. The surgery was scheduled at same time as assessment so they were only under one time.
