probably because it doesnt smell right. I now have a few blankets and always rotate them so that she always has one that smells like her while the others are washing I wash the cushion but leave the blanket then the day after wash the blanket leaving her cushion..it works for us.

Thanks Lucy, when I think about it, you're probably right. We'll give it a shot.
