Hi, bully lovers!
I'm Christine, and my boyfriend and I are currently doing our research on getting a bulldog (and by 'we', I mean 'me', and relaying him the Cliffnotes version of what I found). I'm just getting a bit confused as to who is a good breeder, who are scams, and just generally what people's opinions are on the different breeders.
We found one in a local pet store who has pretty much won our hearts. I know, pet shops aren't the best places, but this shop will tell you what breeder they received the puppy from, they pay for any vet visits within the first year (even wellness), they send the puppy through three different vets to make sure they're okay (and can provide documentation), and they are actually a really good shop. They told me when I went to look at them that they're often not show standard, but are still healthy.
A little bit about me. I have a 15 year old mostly blind and arthritic, with high blood pressure and an enlarged kidney Persian named Gidget (oh, and who was the runt of the litter and weighs 4 1/2 pounds), and a 4 month old hedgehog, Amelia. Gidget lives up with my parents, just because it's easier for her to get to the vet that way, and she's my replacement for my parents for when I go away for school.
I'm currently getting my masters in Forensic Psychology in Washington, DC. No, I can't read your mind.
I also run an online pet accessories shop, Tranquills, on etsy. It's mostly for small animals, but I'm working my way up to bigger.
This is my boyfriend and the puppy... they look like long lost twins...
Amelia, the hedgehog.
And Gidget, the cat.
