I think I said a cuss word at the clerk in shock and my jaw ell slack. These damn well better work or Bertha is getting a job, lol
Wow you could have gone to your primary care physician and got a script and it probably would have only cost $20 to $40. That price because it is a pet is highway robbery.

Now I know they can get certain illness from eating other animal poo... Rabbit, deer, cat..... Is that a possible cause?

i hope this clears it all up for Bertha and you.... Keep us posted

I paid 74 for a tube of ointment for Sally. I about crapped myself too but bought it. I'm pretty sure I know what Bertha's job will be if she has to get one.

Kisses and hugs to her. I  works and like you said, she could have been on the wrong medication all this time.

She would
only be exposed to deer poop in front yard and we watch her like a hawk for that. I would think she would get GI symptoms from it but to be quite honest. I have no fricken idea!!

Wow that is expensive! I also think they jack up prices b.c they know we will spend the money either way! Well I hope all goes well and she gets better!!!

xoxoxo

Yep Clavamox is expensive bit it's a really good antibiotic. For future reference tho- if you need antibiotics you can always ask them to prescribe you the human equivalent instead. Waaaaaay cheaper!

Good morning y’all. New here trying to find answers or advice for my Cera. She is almost 9 months old and has been fighting a Ecoli in the bladder infection since 6 weeks of age. My vet has given up and I am currently at 5k in vet bills she has had sonograms vulva/hood surgery. Scope dye something? And still an infection that does not budge. Her bladder wall is super super thick and has been since her first sonogram. Clavomax she has and still is on daily just for maintenance. The specialist said her insides are immaculate. We’ve tried 5 other antibiotics and none of them seem to help. She does good for about two weeks and then she’s back to urinating blood and blood in urine she just got another culture and we are awaiting the results. Next step is a procedure where they biopsy her bladder at 3k. I just feel like they dropped the ball in the beginning when I took her in at 6 weeks and they gave me pain killers. And then a month later I was back . She was never treated correctly and now everyone has given up on her. She will be 9 months on the 11th. I found out last week that they are just now taking blood work . I have not had a pet in some time however it seems the health care is just as bad as it is for us now. Please any advice anything would be of great benefit at this time. Thanks

My goodness what an ordeal…. What food are you feeding? I’m wondering if her diet is impacting it in anyway. @helsonwheels @Cbrugs @oscarmayer

No, it’s not her food and she is eating love grub all natural diet. I just got a call from vet her vet. Her culture came back with new ecoli and most antibiotics are resistant to it so we are going to do a higher dose of amoxicillin and check again in 2 weeks

Add sauerkraut or a fermented product during the antibiotic period so it doesn’t destroy the gut flora. At least you know what it is 👍 keep us posted

When our Pippy came into rescue she had 2 issues...an infected inverted tail and chronic UTIs. The tail was removed and the UTI (e-Coli) was treated with antibiotics for 4 weeks and cleared up. A couple weeks later, it returned. This back and forth continued for 4-5 months until Pippy had her first heat cycle. She was spayed shortly after that. She never had another UTI. Pippy's Vet predicted that the "puppy UTIs" would cease after the first heat. He was correct.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure that most UTIs are e-Coli. For repeat UTIs, a minimum of 4 weeks of antibiotics is recommended. Pulsing antibiotics until that first heat may be in order.
