We were thinking of pulling his legs if he got stuck :D No rabbits located but I think he sensed them because he was going back and forth between the holes (there were several holes at a top of a hill). He's quite gentle so hopefully no rabbits were scared, though!

Oh yes, but this was definitely a rabbit hole! Badgers' dens are much larger and located in the forst - this was at the top of a hill on a grassy field! Not so sure we would have liked Castor to meet with a badger!
