Bella weighs about 50 pounds and she’s taller and less wrinkled than what I thought a traditional bulldog is. Her mother was a monster, probably 70 to 80 pounds and BIG! I looked at most of the pics on the forum and it seems to me that there’s a lot of size and shape variations of these creatures. Are they all just EBD’s?

Yes, English bulldogs come in different shapes and sizes! Bella looks very nice! How old is she? They are not fully grown until three years or so.

If you look at purebred English bulldogs, the breed standard according to the American Kennel Club is lbs 50 for males and lbs 40 for females (https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/bulldog/). This is slightly less than standards issued by the British and the Swedish kennel clubs, where the standards are 25 kilos (lbs 55) for males and 23 kilos (lbs 50) for females. Our Castor is quite small (lbs 44) although his parents both weighed in at standard sizes. Many bulldogs weigh much more, and there is great variation among purebred dogs.

She’s about 2 1/2.

Your Bella sure is cute!

My Bella is 54 lbs.
she will be three this week!( I cannot believe that!)
She has been about that weight for the last year but seems to look a little wider these last few months.
Lol. Not sure how that works! [emoji1787][emoji4]

They definitely come in all shapes and sizes. Louie will be 3 in February and he has very long legs and is not barrel chested at all. He hasn't been weighed in awhile but I am guessing maybe in the 65 pound range. He is the athletic one out of the litter.

Yours remind me of Nyala my brindle but she’s a bantam bulldogge. Old breed from the 1800. She’s much taller. They are supposed to be between 40-50lbs. She’s 50ish. But definitely bulldogs come in all sorts of sizes. Jake my white face is 61lb. He’s going to be 3 end of January and will still bulk up. He’s not finished.

Lambeau weights a good 56, with a barrel chest and nice v-waistline.

I would agree with others they seem to vary slightly in size some bigger then others. Our Tiberius is pushing 80 pounds with little fat - we do control his diet somewhat strictly - he will be 5 in April and was just neutered this last summer.

ldenne, now that he’s just been neutered, keep a closer eye as that’s when they can gain.

Btw, he’s beautiful!!

What a great looking bunch!

We just had him in a slightly stricter diet because he had gained some weight. He gets a roll under his chin and can’t breath so we have to watch him pretty carefully

What are you feeding him?

We feed him Canidae pure usually the fish one. And add fish oil to his food - has helped his coat and paws Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

These are your fish ingredients

Salmon, salmon meal, menhaden fish meal, sweet potatoes, peas, canola oil, suncured alfalfa, potatoes, natural flavor.....

Keep an eye on the potatoes n canola oil. They are cutting the corners with canola oil. I prefer a quality oil like EVOO or EV coconut oil etc.

Also if feeding their Lamb bag, keep an eye on their legumes as companies n not only this one, they will print example, 60% protein when basically there’s 30% protein from legumes. It’s a cheaper way to save $$$ and pets can gain weight if they don’t get the full protein from meats. :)
