Question, Ellie is being treated for a mild case of Aspiration Pneumonia and was given 250MG of Clavamox for 10 days, should the Vet take new xrays to verify its been cleared up??

Bristol has had aspiration pneumonia twice, both right after surgery, both times they took follow up x-rays.

my old vet never took follow up xrays, and Frith kept getting pneumonia. They blamed it on MEsophogus and me not feeding her correctly. My new vet says she takes xrays four days before the meds run out to see if they need to extend them or change them.

Thank you ladies!! :-) that is what i was thinking should happen, Ellies meds as mentioned are done on Monday, and we have a follow appt that night as well at 6pm, so keep your fingers crossed.

This little lady is ready to get back to playing!! - she has been missing daycare, everytime we go outside to potty, she goes to "ellies car" door

Good luck--I wish you the best. AP is not fun. Frith has a lot of scar tissue because of a vet who didn't understand bulldogs. I can't say they are a bad vet--just not good with bulldogs.:pray2:

Yes, that seems to be the best way to tell progress in the lungs. When Frank aspirated, they did x-rays at each of his follow up visits. Sending positive thoughts for Ellie's recovery! Glad to hear that she is feeling good enough to want to play!

Definitely get the x-rays done as a follow up..the only way to tell if the lungs have cleared up. Both my bullies had that same issue and I just had to put one down tow weeks ago becuase of it.

sending prayers and positive thoughts to Ms Ellie.... quick recovery sweetie

Thanks everyone, we were supposed to have an appointment yesterday, however, the ONLY vet I trust, and her FAVORITE Vet, that did her scope, had at the last minute changed his schedule, so we are not able to see him till tomorrow night at 6pm, mamma is getting nervous as her Clavamox finished up this AM, and she was doing some coughing/gagging this AM.

I guess what concerns me is I don't have a real feel on the difference between her coughing to get the yuck out and the "regurgitating" Gagging that sounds like a cough - SOOOO FRUSTRATING!!

We have also decided that with all that has happened we feel its in Ellie's best interest to seek out a specialist that deals with Internal medicine
