What I do with Nyala is stop her in the middle of her meal till she burps. It works !!

Does he gobble down his food really fast, or gag while he's eating?!! I add some warm water to my female's kibble to keep her choking down her food...

Could be a palate issue... have you had him evaluated by your vet?
