We will miss our sweet Callie "Mommas" Roxanne 12/21/08-05/14/13

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you a short story about our sweet Callie, that we lost on Tuesday. We lost our English Bulldog two days ago because of high bilirubin in her blood, my heart is torn to pieces. She started showing signs of loss appetite no drinking or anything. Her eyes started to turn a yellowish color and she wasn't being herself. Our doctor immediately starting running blood work and running an IV into her. This past weekend she stayed overnight at the animal hospital, as the toxins began to increase she had (2) seizures and also lost her vision. I was so devastated, that following morning would have been this past monday, she was taken to our vets office for an immediate surgery to remove her gallbladder which was showing high levels of enzymes. She did fine that whole day and was taken to the animal hospital that night, early tuesday morning we got a call around 6am that she didn't make it. My heart aches and I wish that we knew more about the this beed and what causes this to happen. I think she had a sick liver for a long time but we just never knew. Our poor baby was about to have her 5th birthday in December of this year. I only had her a little over two years and she was always at the vet getting some sort of new medication because she always had issues. I know GOD had other plans for her, because if he didn't take her we would have continued to push until we saw results. I think with all the medications she took, her body said enough. I'm tired. I have been crying constantly, my wife and everyone on Facebook seems to understand. I just feel like I have found a new home, here at this website. I want to connect with all of you and hear your stories about your bulldog. Callie brought our family so much happiness, its hard also because we have a long hair dachshund and a schnauzer. Harley is the (dachshund) and Maggie is the (schnauzer). Maggie joined our family shortly after we bought our house in October of last year, she was found being chased my our neighbors dog and she was covered in fleas. Harley and Callie were very close and my heart breaks for him because I know he misses his sweet Callie too.

Bobby...She was beautiful. And I see such happiness in her eyes. That is where you need to land. Realize the love and life you gave her is what made her your Callie. Many of us have been where you are right now. We aren't going to be able to take away that huge empty hole in your heart. In time, that hole will be filled by the memories of Callie and her gift of love to you. It will never be whole, of course..That piece belongs to her. But, she is at The Bridge, feeling great and making lots of new friends. She will be watching over you...

I'm so glad you found us. Like I already told you..just hang here..healing comes amongst friends..and that's where you are.

Bobby I am so sorry for your loss of Callie. Shed your tears and heartbreak here too, we are here for you and your family. Lots of us know the type of pain you're going through right now, myself included. I found talking and posting many pics of my guys Ace in the other pets section really helped me here. So sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful girl. It's never easy loosing one of our babies. She was happy and loved and she knew it. She will be waiting at the bridge for you someday and she will be healthy.

I do feel your pain, I lost my Gunnyboy last year , he was ten but full of life but one morning he started running around in pain and it only took ten mins for him to die, it was frome bloat. I guess its the # one killer in dogs. It ended my happiness and I still cry for him to this day, my hurt never goes away. Now I have 2 rescues that I love, Gunny would be happy that I saved to bukkdogs that needed to be loved and a fur ever home. I am so sorry for your lost , just know that she loved you and you loved her back. my prayers are with you and yours.

Thank you! She was full of life and she loved everyone. Its hard to imagine life without her, she brought so much happiness everywhere she went. She loved seeing us happen, even when she was in pain.

Thank you for your response. She was loving and full of life, she had a brother and a sister so it's been hard on them. We've been trying to provide them with a lot of affection. Life is so different at home, its hard to be here. Everything I see, feel and touch remind me of Callie. This website has allowed me to express my feelings and experience, that I hope will have a positive impact.

Thank you for your response. He's been pretty sad, you can sense when dogs feel pain or sadness. We have him and Maggie (Schnauzer). They show me so much affection, but it is nothing like the love that my bulldog gave me.
