A couple days ago, I noticed Linus' eyes were looking funny. As the day progressed, he seemed to be really squinting out of his one eye and they were both watery, with some slight discharge. The onset of this condition was super fast, without any change in diet or environment, which has me puzzled, since I figured it was allergies. Also, Linus is on allergy medication until the end of May (our allergy season), which has worked incredibly and kept ALL his allergies at bay completely.
So I decided to take him to the vet to see if he had something in his eye or he had a scratch or entropion or what was going on because he was very uncomfortable. After a thorough examination, and reviewing the medication Linus is on, the vet could not make a diagnosis. He did not see any debris, no scratch, little irritation, but Linus continues to squint and try to rub his eyes!
I've tried giving him Benadryl and it hasn't helped and I'm really not sure it's allergies given the medication he's on. Does anyone have any idea what this might be or if I can do something to help ease his eyes? I have been wiping them with a warm cloth, as I would if my eyes were bothering me, but overall, he seems totally miserable.
Thanks for any advice!
