Redness around ear

Last night my bulldog was scratching a lot at one ear. I cleaned her ear and she seemed more relax. This morning I noticed redness around her one ear. Any thoughts on what it could be? Just wanted some advice before I take her to the vet.

I clean out my pups ears weekly w/a little witch hazel on a cotton pad... if I notice any brown gunk, then it's a problem. I just had the vet here yesterday because Walter has a horrible ear infection that we've been battling for several weeks. Allergies this year have been horrid!!!

Hard to tell in pictures but redness can be common…. As Tracey sugg, clean with witch Hazel
