I am just now reading this and I am very glad that your lil' boy is doing OK. Jewel and Bentley say get well soon.

He's okay...nothing serious! They do think he was experiencing back pain but think he just exacerbated himself at daycare. They will send him home with pain medication and he'll need to be on crate rest for the next couple of days!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers...they worked!

These guys really keep us on our toes, don't they?

Just reading this. Wow....im so happy it was nothing
When my son's pitties plays with Nyala, she rams into them n just doesn't stop. One evening she was walking like an old lady with a cane. Couldn't even go up on the recliner even though the foot rest was out so she can climb. Took 2 days for her body to get back on track. Now she gets time out when they all play n it works. Im happy Jax had nothing serious !!

Well, he had an episode around 3 am. He woke up and was trembling so bad. You can tell he was in pain and scared. It broke me heart. I tried to stay calm and gave him one of the pills that was prescribed. He eventually calmed down and went to sleep. I decided to stay home from work today as I felt uncomfortable leaving him.

I know when I hurt my back, the pain doesn't go away over night but I just hate seeing my baby hurting.

Well I am glad you stayed home to watch over your Jax. I would most definitely keep track in a notebook of his shaking by denoting date and time and symptoms. It would be even better if you can record a video of the episodes.

I hope these little episodes resolve quickly enough.

Thanks guys. I just posted that he was shaking and trembling around 3 am. It's really scary to watch. I know the ER vet said it's nothing serious but I can't help but to worry.

yes! as rj (roger) mentioned,, it feels bad to video at the time but! it was the best thing I did for my guy because when I take him in, he gets adrenalin going and acts fine,,, the only way to describe how he was acting was by video. I sure hope this hurrys up and is over ... It's so hard to see our babies hurt

I have to and hate to say this, but I don't really trust too many vets. What kind of examination did the vet do? X-rays? Blood work? Or just a quick look? Sending positive and healing thoughts your way.

So here's the thing...they basically just did a physically exam and said he showed no signs of pain but that everything I described sounds like pain. I asked about an X-ray and they said for a French Bulldog, there really is no point because their spines are already wonky so an X-ray wouldn't be definitive and the only way to know would be an MRI but they didn't think it was necessary. They prescribed Gabapentin and said crate rest, limit activity. I know these guys can have back issues so of course I'm concerned. I texted Louie's breeder because she is a vet tech for a bully specialist. She said that was BS on the X-ray and was disappointed a vet would say that. She was also surprised an anti-inflammatory and Tramadol wasn't given. Jax has an appointment with his regular vet on Thursday and I'll see what he says. If I'm still uncomfortable about the whole thing, I am going to try and get him in with the bully specialist for a second opinion. I took him outside this morning to potty, he peed and pooped as normal, walked, stretched. So maybe it's just a strain or something. But until I know 100%, I won't be able to relax.

Presuming is like the "if" word. Very vast! Vets are like doctors..."here take this and see what happens! " we need to question vets n doctors. Ask questions and if you dont get it or not sure or even if it doesnt make any sense to you, ask again till it does.

I don't know what to believe. Two vets said X-ray is not definitive but then I hear from other people an X-ray can show issues. He's able to walk so I'm taking that as a good sign. If he's stable until his appointment on Thursday, I'll take it from there. I'll have to write down all of my questions and concerns that I have so I'm prepared.

I agree... they should've done the x-ray and given him something for the inflammation. My boxer had a neck spur and Tramadol was a godsend for her.
