My Baby Girl

Sadly Nyala passed yesterday. She started breathing heavily Saturday morning. Breathing was on and off and she stopped eating. I slept with her on the sofa which I never do, but she knew. Sunday she was feeling a lot better but panting came back with some foaming. We had to make the biggest decision we all want to avoid. Nyala was 11 days shy from her 10th birthday. We’ve been through this 9 months ago with Jake which I haven’t mentioned to anyone but 3 members. We took his death very hard. Out of nowhere, he had a massive mass in front of his heart and passed in 24hrs. As most know, Jake was a solid dog, jumping and bouncing off from anywhere, running, playful 24/7 and gone just like that, That was a great shock to us with a lot of questions. He passed in Dec/24. A month shy of his 8th birthday. 2 dogs in 9 months is heartbreaking. I had planned a get together with the kids and their families members weeks ago for Saturday. Nyala wasn’t well but like she knew it wasn’t time to give up. Everyone knew what was happening and I saw throughout the day and evening, the kids were going up to Nyala, petting her, talking to her, sitting with her, then going back during the whole evening. They were saying their goodbyes in their own way to our baby girl.

I am so very sorry, Helene. I couldn't believe what I was reading, such a shock. Nyala was such a character, and I think we all felt like we knew her. And to lose Jake too. Heartbreaking.
