URGENT!!! Just found Lola has one kidney.

In my opinion that is why it's easy to give that kind of guarantee, cause not many people would give back their pups. Carrier dog can be bred, but only with a clear one. So if they have tested....but who knows, since they didn't do in the first place....

Our pup Floyd was diagnosed with Hypercuricoseria shortly after we got him. This is a hereditary. His genetic testing showed he had both mutated genes meaning both mom and dad had to be carrIers. I kept our breeder in the loop during all the testing. When the results came out we were offered to give him back and get a new puppy or our money back. Of course we could do neither as we already loved him. I was very disappointed to see a month later he was breeding the same dog. Unfortunately I think we are given this health guarantee and if something goes wrong we are offered a new puppy which most of us would not consider taking and they know that........makes me sad.

Waiting for the breeder to call back.

So sorry this is happening to you and your baby! I agree with David, the breeder most like will just want her back and give a new pup, or offer a level of refund, not much.

Please keep us posted.... she is adorable!

I wouldn't give the pup back, but I would ask for a full refund to cover medical bills.

We are waiting for the breeder to call us back. She will not be going anywhere, we are hoping the breeder will cover the bills so far, which we do not think is unreasonable. We actually gave her a deposit about 2 months ago for another puppy, since we wanted Lola to have "Hercules" to play with. Here is the summary of the specialist report we received today:

Presenting for evaluation of urinary incontinence. Lola has been having accidents since her owner adopted her. She will have accidents in the house and will leak urine when standing or lying down. Lola has a normal urine stream outside. Lola was evaluated and placed on antibiotics for a urinary tract infection.

Machine generated alternative text: Veterinary Internal Medicine Practice 3) Missing right kidney with a large left kidney- presumably right renal agenesis with compensative left kidney hypertrophy. => Collectively, findings suggest incontinence due to polyuria (increased urine formation) from infection of the single kidney. Recommendations/Options: 1) Continue antibiotics for 1-2 months total (recommendations vary). 2) Recheck a urine culture 3-4 days after the course of antibiotics. If the culture is negative we will continue off antibiotics and recheck a culture one month later. 3) Continue to monitor kidney values regularly long term (ex. chemistry, urinalysis, blood pressure, etc). Also consider further evaluation of left kidney structure/function such as filtration studies or kidney biopsy. Medication: 1) Zeniquin 25mg: Continue 1 1/2 tablet orally once daily for at least 1 month. 2) Cephalexin 350mg: Give 1 capsule orally twice daily for at least 1 month. 3) Zytec: Continue 1/2 tablet orally once daily.

Thanks for all your concerns, she is such a sweet girl a real cuddle monster.

I've been working with my breeder as we discovered Boris has severe hip dysplasia. She's offered us a new puppy but we have to surrender Boris to her in order for that to happen. I would rather get some money back and keep him, but she refuses to give me any money back... They're all different though.

My family breeds labs and we have only had two issues in which we let them keep their puppy and supplied them with another... I wish bully breeders all acted the same and stood behind their breed, but there are challenges with the breed...
