Mishka
Before I got my baby Mishka 3yrs ago, I did everything right. I did months of research on everything Bulldog, even researched breeders thoroughly. Then I finally got her and my life is so complete. Got the greatest Bulldog vet ever! He took such good care of her from the start. We spend thousands on medical bills and she is worth every penny. Our vet got in a bad accident, so we had 2 take Mishka 2 another vet, she wasn't very good. Freaked me out completely. She said she could only hear one sound and I should take her 2 a hart specialist. She wouldn't answer any of my questions, just kept saying hart specialist. I'm so upset, and can only get a apointment 2 weeks from now! Have any one experienced something similar with their bulldog? The hart only having one sound?

So sorry to hear about this, hope it turns out to be nothing. Where do you live? We drive to Pretoria with our dogs if something is wrong, we've found a great vet there... Hatfield bird and Animal Hospital. They've done so much for us and our dogs have always been treated very good there.

I live in Witbank, its not to far from PTA, in fact I'm taking her 2 a animal hospital there, think it might b the same one. I'm just stressing cause its still a while 2 go.

My Tubby has a heart murmur. He had an ultra sound and the whole works. They found it was something he could live with and would probably never affect him. They told us as long as he is his normal playful self and doesn't need a break after 10 minutes he is fine.

I was so freaked out and cried for days but Tubbs is perfectly fine, tearing up his toys and running around like a mad man so I'm sure your Mishka will be perfectly fine. I found its harder on us owners then the actual dogs themselves, their just happy to have a belly rub and some water to drink lol

Thanks Tubbysmom, that makes me feel a lot better 2 know, cause she isn't showing any symptoms. She has had so many check-ups thru the years and never any problems with her hart. She is happy crazy, funny, happy bullie still!! Glad 2 hear your babies doing so great!! Gives me hope

Please keep in mind, this is an opinion only and not verified, try not to worry
until you KNOW there is a problem.

I, myself, have many chronic health conditions and have been misdiagnosed
many times. I have learned that Doctors (& Vets) are not GOD! The good ones
know this and act accordingly.

Keeping you & yours in prayers, please keep us informed...GOD bless!

Thanks Texas Carol!! Will do so!

Four out of 6 of my Bulldogs have had some kind of heart problem. The important thing is to get an accurate diagnosis and give the medication as prescribed. Most heart medications are "people" meds. We got Mack's through WalMart.com for a lot less $$$! Properly treated these dogs can live a normal life!

I would say if your first bully vet never said anything about it, I wouldn't worry about it. The new vet may not know what she is talking about. I think I'd find another vet, a bully vet, and get a second opinion.

Marizan I have no experience with heart issues, but I would most definitely be seeking a 2nd opinion. I tagged Kim to help give you some insight as she has bullies with heart murmurs.

Marizan, I have two boys were both diagnosed at a 6 weeks with a heart murmur. Took them to a veterinary teaching hospital to have echocardiograms done and it was not a murmur but pulmonic stenosis. One of my boys' is more severe than the other one but they are both very healthy otherwise. They take atenelol twice a day (which is a human heart med) and otherwise just have to have follow up echos done yearly. One of them is 2 years old and the other one is 1 year old. Very active, healthy boys.

I'm hoping that Mishka's tests turn out to be a misdiagnosis but if it is something, just know that she'll be able to still live a good life.

Thanks so much for you're caring and advice Davidh, 2 BullyMama and Kim 'n the guys!! ... With all the research I ve done before I got her the last thing I expected was hart issues. Its good 2 know that you're 2 boys still live happy lives Kim! Thanks every one will keep u updated
