Since Raven is such a poo monster I was contemplating buying a doggie Dooley in-ground waste disposal system. It's pretty much a septic tank that you dump in enzymes that break down the poo. I really hate that I use so many poop bags in a day, I feel like I am abusing our Eco system. So my question are 1) is it good?, 2) is there any odor? It can be used until the weather hits below 40 degrees.

We bought a big stainless steel poop bucket...it has a lid. So we put a garbage bag in it and fill it up and take it out when the trash goes.....It isb't huge it is probably a foot and a half high and a foot around......but that wold save you on bags! The lid def keeps the stink in!!

I buy the bags in bulks so it's not bad price wise. Mmh a poop bucket, where did you get it? I uses a large plastic garbage bin right now with a garbage bag in it, then dump in the individual tied bags. I swear it's still stinky when I open it. I wonder if the metal can will do better. I always feel like plastic holds in smells more. I can't imagine what that can will smell like in the summer.

O don't get me wrong....when I open the lid I hold my breath! I think my step dad got them at petco or maybe like a hardware store....I am pretty sure they are made for this reason though. I will have to go look at the label but I am pretty sure it is a poop bucket lol. I just have a scooper with a rake and I go out and rake it into the scoop thing and dump in the bucket. I know what you are saying with the bags though. I use those bag for my lil boys nasty diapers.....and I feel bad for having so many too....but what ya gonna do. I recycle plenty so I do try to help the environment as much as possible!

I was looking at those too ... in the Fosters and Smith catalog. I wondered how well they'd work here in Seattle where it never stops raining. I would LOVE to get one. I feel horrible about the amount of plastic bags I use and I can't always find the "biodegradable" ones...and who knows if they really ARE anyway.....! Getting the maximum number of poops PER BAG has become an art form for me. I'm not kidding. Yesterday, I maxxed my max: EIGHT POOPS IN ONE POOP BAG! Uh huh. Who's da boss? That's right...it's ME.

And for anyone who doesn't believe me....they've got a video coming. :lmao: I know some of ya'll love to talk "poo" so this should be like porn for you.

 You are just cracking me up today! I love it!!!!! But I may have to take a pic of my :poo: Holy Cow does this thing hold a lot! I am glad it is the hubs who has to get it out and put it in the trash......aaaaaa.....I should probably go see if he remembered to do that today :barf: seriously I am impressed with the amount of :poo: my dogs do in a week!!!!

Can't wait for the video!

We looked into the doggie dooley but it warns it doesn't work well in clay soil, and after about 6inches down our soil is 99.9% clay. So we don't have one. If we didn't have the clay though I think it would have been great to have.

We use a small (maybe 5 or 8 gallon) galvanized garbage can with a tight fitting lid and handles on the side so we can bungee it closed when the wind blows. We have 20 acres so my husband loads the can in the trailer hooked up to his RV and empties it out in a field. I don't know how often he changes the plastic liner, but I assume it is more often in the summer. I know the Magpies pick through the $hit in the field looking for carrots, etc. that go right through!

i dont know about your own septic tank, but in canada (toronto anyway) we compost almost everything that we can, and that includes poop and poop bags. the city collects it every week (our trash is only picked up every two weeks!) and we can go get compost for free in the spring.

We talked about it, but never actually made a move to get one.

Im bad for the earth! His poo goes in plastic bags and goes in the trash can which has garbage bag but it still stink! I fell bad for the garbage men! THey are probably like Holy cow what do these people do lol

We have the garbage can that Cooper11 was talking about. It works great. We bought it at Blaines Farm & Fleet...I don't know if you heard of that store or not.

Yes it is 2 a.m. and I am still up!!!!!! I can never fall asleep!!!! ugh! anyway I feel you. Today I had to take the garbage bag full of :poo: to the garbage cans because my hubby "forgot" to get it and put in the garbage. I took a deep breath...open the lid...held my breath didn't dare breath or smell those toxic fumes and tied the bag...then rushed through the garage with holding the bag with my arm extended still not breathing lol. Seriously this bag of :poo: had to weigh at least 20 lbs! The whole time I was rushing through the garage and waiting for the garage door to open I was praying that the bag wouldn't bust and :poo: fall out all over! :barf: OMG That would have been soooo sooooo bad. I am pretty sure it would have happened to because the bag was really stretching with the big load in it. I put it in the garbage bin shut the lid and the breathed! Walked away thinking God I am so glad I am not the one having to dump that in the truck!
