I need to buy more toothpaste for my dog. I'm debating on purchasing some of the VOHC recommended dental products (on VOHC website under Products Awarded the VOHC Seal - not sure if I am allowed to post the link).

Has anyone tried these? Should I even consider buying these? They are expensive but seem highly recommended. This is my first dog where I am responsible for daily dental care.

I currently get the Minties and he does well with them as long as I hold it so he doesn't swallow it whole.

I have never used any products for my guys.... nylabones, antlers, and marrow bones have kept their teeth in great condition.

My answer exactly! My dogs have never needed their teeth cleaned!

Thanks. I am just trying to take as good of care of him as I can so we can avoid unnecessary anesthesia.

Haha!! I don't feel so bad now. I'm over here like "man- should I be brushing their teeth?" Lol! Same here,? Nyla bones, antlers and other chew toys. Their teeth look great!

I have gotten marrow bones like Christine suggested, and my old boxer didn't even need a cleaning. She said her teeth looked amazing… Lol

They seem like good products but I have never used them. One nice thing about doggie dental products is you wouldn't need to use a lot, so it would last a long time. We have had luck with Nylabones and deer/elk antlers. Many bulldogs are very aggressive chewers and if you get something hard like an antler or Nylabone, just chewing it scrapes all of the plaque off their teeth.
