Birthday cake recipe ideas please!

So daisy is turnin 1 in a couple of weeks and I'd like to make her a simple birthday cake, just a sponge cake would be good asi could decorate it with lovely treats but I'm unsure if she's allowed some of the ingredients in the ready made mixes that you can buy, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
