Hello folks , not been on for a while and looking for some help with regards to food for our 4 month old male English bulldog Stanley

He is on origin at the moment and seems to be no issues however I'm wondering if this is the best/correct food for him ????

Also would like to add that we lost our boy Hugo about 6 weeks ago and it devastated us as it was A very sudden illness , and Stanley is our new family addition , saying that Hugo was on frozen raw ??? And I'm just wondering if I should put Stanley on raw

I have tried to do research and getting mixed reviews so not sure what to do

Obviously rather paranoid because of what happened to Hugo as it was an auto immune disease he passed with and I still wonder if it was anything to do with his diet ???

I just want the best for Stanley and any help info would be appreciated massively

Many thanks
Eddie

Congratulations on your new puppy. I'm sure you've seen the link on here about food recommendations, the only negative I've heard about orijen is that it was bought out by mars and there was concern about the recipe being changed. Most on here will tell you that raw is best but the decision is yours based on convenience and such. Newman is two now and has been on open farms ancient grains since I brought him home. He does get freeze dried raw as a topper and I do occasionally give him beef liver, beef heart and sardines in water. I've given him nuvets plus supplements daily since he was a puppy and daily bone broth. He's never had any allergies and only been to vet for his check ups. Do your research and you'll be fine. Best of luck

Congrats on little Stanley. Definitely raw is the way to go. Especially you living in Scotland, you can go visit your local farmers see if they do raw dog food. I buy from a local and way less expensive. Ratio all balanced out. Like mentioned, Orijen was bought by Mars. It’s a very high quality kibble. Mars hasn’t touched the ingredients yet. Will they? Who knows. I did email Champion Dog Food, owners of Acana/Orijen, they did say Mars needed to respect the ingredients as per their agreement. Is Mars going to respect their agreement? Who knows cause they are very well known to add fillers like the human food side šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

I’ve been feeding my Winnie Purina Pro Plan Puppy Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula with Probiotics Dry Dog Food. She just turned 18 weeks and she’s doing really well on it. It was recommended by her breeder as well as my vet and when I did the research, I was pleasantly surprised that Purina actually made a good food as long as you stick with the pro plan.

Winnie is very cute. Keep an eye out for allergies that food has corn and soy in it

You know my last dog Pickle ate nature’s logic so I think I may transition Winnie over to that. Pickle was 12 1/2 when she passed last May and my vet always said she was one of the healthiest bulldogs he has seen. So Winnie deserves to eat just as well. Bag ordered to make the transition.

I think thats a wise move a lot on here praise nature's logic, don't think you'll find many praising anything by Purina lol. Best of luck!

I think you’re doing a great move. And I know that you know Purina, Science Hill, Royal Canine is a big no no. 😁 The allergies and vet bills, 🫣
