Good for you for not giving him up! He's your baby now and I woudn't do it either. The same thing kinda happened with Mac, we purchased him at 4 months but his eyes turned out so bad a month later that she offered to give us a new pup. Well, we got him the specialist he needed, he's permanently disfigured in the eye area now so we neutered him at the same time as the surgery and just paid for all of it. I was going down the road of allowing his worse eye to be removed rather than take the chances and pay $$$$$$$$$ (you really DON'T wanna know how much) I was afraid that it would give him residual pain in the future since everything was so damaged. Hubby was crying, so we said to do what you have to do. Opthamologist was so dead set on neutering him as this was such a bad defect she got an old partner to come to HER to do it for him while he was still under. As a specialist she can only perform eye surgeries and nothing else, EVER. She's the best in the state of WA so if anyone ever needs her or is willing to travel to her I'd recommend her.
