Help Needed! "OH NO, NOT AGAIN!" - Me, coming home after work.

I would gate off upstairs. I hear wonderful things about crate training but, could never do it. I am gone 9 hours a day & never felt comfortable leaving him in a crate.
He will learn don't worry.
