Lots of great advise here...and there's a ton written on the internet on the topic. One of my favorite resources for information is The Bark - there's some very well written articles on that very topic there that sure helped me. Any of Cesar Millan's shows that deals with "pack rivalries" has been my main source of information and I try very hard to mirror his principles completely; excercise, dicipline and affection - in that order!

And remember: mistakes are good. That's how they learn and how you reinforce your status as the leader of your pack.
