* Now that regulators in the United Kingdom have approved the world's first pet food product containing lab-cultured meat, the company that created it is fielding questions about nutritional value, safety and economic viability.

* The British company Meatly wants to start selling its lab-grown pet food next year, should it further shrink its manufacturing
her companies, such as Bond Pet Foods in the U.S., are employing a different method — precision fermentation — to brew meat protein for pets.
* Veterinarians have expressed some enthusiasm for the products, but time will tell if producers overcome cost challenges and convince consumers of their green credentials.
Bond Pet Foods, based in Boulder, Colorado, has stopped short of growing muscle cells for pet food. Rather, it's only making meat protein through a process called precision fermentation that essentially involves introducing chicken DNA into yeast cells, then brewing the protein as if it were craft beer. The end product is then dried and ground into a fine powder.

Thank you Lynn… good to see you posting and sharing all your awesome knowledge šŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ’•

I was watching Bloomberg the stock markets on the Canadian side n saw someone which I do follow on a social media. He’s from back home, a Dr in the food industry. Anyhoo, he was saying in Canada, our Health Canada Govt will now be growing lab meat n WONT LABEL it in the grocery stores. 🤬 Meaning you won’t know what you’re eating! I swear I blew a fuse. Email Health Canada and told them they have no right to not label if ppl are eating clone meat or not. Coming from the food industry, I have to label everything that’s in my jars (homemade canning), not allowed to change one ingredient cause everything is inspected. I only use organic ingredients n extra virgin olive oil etc. They inspect me once a year, the kitchen, the labels, cleaning products etc, If they don’t like something they can shut me down. So hey, ok for them not to label n do what they want but vendors/businesses can’t? Hell no, they got an email.

They replied a month later. Said: After a year of growing lab meat with cow’s dna, cells they had NO health hazard and concluded it was safeā€ 😳

A year n concluded it was safe! A YEAR? Like their Covid vaccine….🤬 That’s another subject!

So I posted their email they sent me to give heads-up to Canadians and Americans too. Hell it’s like 150K views, 2000 replies, hundreds of bookmarks. Never thought it would go that far loll. I did this cause it pissed me off that govts n Bill Gates do what they want to keep people sick. Covid opened my eyes even more. Why I bought an acreage, get some chickens n cows. I grow my massive garden so my cows don’t eat grains. I like to know what I’m eating. I just don’t trust govts. Self efficacy

So yeah, watch your meat. They already have flour made with crickets out there🤮🤮🤮

So incredibly crazy that we even have to think about this 😢😢

No surprise as they allow powdered cellulose (basically wood pulp) in foods, pets and otherwise. They say it is fibre, therefore good for you! Right, I go out and gnaw on a stick quite often! It's why I try to avoid processed foods but it is almost impossible to avoid completely. Too many additives in food generally.

I do all I can to avoid packaged/processed foods… I but meat from local butcher and small grocery store, veg/fruits from a CSA. I make my own mayonnaise, blue cheese dressing, cranberry juice… can what I can from the CSA. Lots of work but I know what I’m eating

You’re right, it is very hard and you absolutely need to read every ingredient nowadays. They make sure to use words that most people won’t understand or it’s in very fine print. We are to the point we have to google items before buying.
