Thanx for the information....Cooper does this and kind of reminds me that he is clearing his throat or "trying to get a hairball out of his throat" in a manner of speaking. Lasts for a few seconds then he stops.
 
One of mine does it occasionally. Yes, I too rub their throat. Years ago my little pom did that alot. I would hold her head straight up and rub her throat.
 
My first bulldog would _always_ hock a loogie immediately following every episode of reverse sneezing. He could throw them pretty far 🤣 We didn't have a remedy back then, but I have heard rubbing their throat works as well.
 
When my frenchie does it, I put my fingers over his nose which stops it within a few seconds.
 
Two of our four did it.... Nitshcke and Cheli -- I always just covered their nostrils which forced them to breathe through mouth and it worked
