  • The reasoning (for us) behind the MRI and spinal tap was to determine if Vegas had a brain tumor. We opted to NOT do it. Our neurologist told us if he had a tumor, we would be able to tell in the coming months. He would no longer be able walk or stand. He would start to stumble around. Thankfully...the test was unnecessary. Good luck and give him kisses for us. Please let me know what they say. I'm sending positive thoughts your way.
I know it's probably too late, since your visit is today, but try to get this on video....if you haven't already. I really wish I could say that I think it's nothing, but those are all signs of a pending seizure (in our case with Vegas) The biting is called "fly-chasing" because that's exactly what it looks like. Pacing is caused by the brain just firing...and he has to move. Did I ever share my poem with you? I know you are leaving soon and I hope that this message reaches you. I'm going to PM you my cell number. Text me if any questions come up on the way. Ask for maybe a trial of diazepam or phenobarb.
You are a sweetheart! I just saw the msg and my gift! He is acting wierd to me! The last couple days with biting the air and then his pacing at times here and there! I read all of the blogs/post/videos that Cheryl posted and had chatted some with her .... I was hoping his seizures in Feb were b/c of his surgery and his issue with the prolapse that the pain/anxiety caused it as the drs ran nurological tests and everything was good! They said there is a MRI (a similiar if not the same test for dogs) and I belive something else but I caant remember ! We are leaving in 1 hr to go to the ER to have him looked at! THanks for being concerned! I just hope my baby doesnt hve to get poked, and poked...Ughhh
    Hi Roe -

Nice to meet you . Thanks for the reply. Max had allergy testing, and I've changed his food multiple times - now he is on a RAW Diet (Nature's Variety INSTINCT) and he also gets the Dry kibble as well. His Allergy tests all came back negative for everything, and he doesn't go out much at all - he's 78-lbs, so it's difficult to get him down stairs (he won't go up or down stairs by himself) so he has to be carried. UGH !
I'm originally from Mechanicsburg, PA which is not far from Harrisburg, I still have family there but don't get there to often - unless I'm going to the Dog Show which is held twice a year.
Ah yes, I have friends here who are all native New Jerseyans - they know all the GSP Exit numbers by heart. Drives me Crazy!
I love my bulldog, but he has been a real challenge since I got him - he has skin problems, eye problems, he had bouts of Giardia, and just requires alot of maintenance and care.
Fortunately, I am a Nurse (retired/unemployed) so cleaning him, etc. doesn't bother me, but it does bother my Wallet when he requires constant trips to the Vet. OUCH !
he is a big bog at 78-lbs. He needs to lose alot of weight, and get down to about 55-lbs. But .... he loves to sleep....... all day !
    Hiya,

thanks for the info. I got Maximus when he was 4-months old, and his Entropion was discovered when he was 5-months old - so he has been back and forth to the Vet Opthamologist since that time, and saw him actually 3-weeks ago, due to a bad case of Blepharitis in his (L) eye. Well, the Blepharitis has come back again so he is back on eye drops, oral antibiotics and oral steroids. The Opthamologist said he can't have Maximus keep going thru this - so the surgery has to be done. I'll keep you posted.

PS -> I so hate the GSP, I think I've driven on it once in my life. It scares the hell outta me !
    Hi -
I'm not sure where Tinton Falls is (I don't get out much, LOL) and don't really know the State of NJ (I'm a native of Pennsylvania). I seem to only travel from Morris County to Atlantic City and bypass everything inbetween. LOL. But I have heard recommendations for Garden State in Tinton Falls - I think others here on the forum have mentioned them. I'll have to check it out. I spoke to Max's Vet, who actually made a home visit yesterday, and has recommended Max have Entropion surgery for his (L) eye problems which have gone on long enough. So looks like Max will be having the surgery in June..... Wish me Luck !

    Thanks,

    Patrick
    Hi -
I am in Morris County - in Pine Brook - for Maximus' entropion, he goes to Dr. Brad Holmberg, DVM, PhD at the New Jersey Animal Eye Center in Little Falls, NJ. I really do have to update Max's photo .... he turned 2-years old in January. He's a really big boy at 78-lbs. Ugh !
Hi Roe! Everything is swell in the house that's run by the boys. :) A little nervous about what we're going to find on Punkin's xrays next week, but other than that, I feel that we've been lucky in general. How about you, how's the skin and fur fam?
I am so happy I found this site too!! I actually found it when I was researching about head tremors. We've had a lot of issues during the past weeks. But my baby boy is just so good, and funny, and lovely that it's worth everything we do for him. I just posted some pictures of him, I especially love the first one, it makes me laugh every time . Thank you so much for your support, it has been amazing and so much easier to have another bully owner to talk and ask questions to.
Well you were completely right, Ulysses has a prolapsed urethra... our vet is not available for the next two weeks, but after 45min on the phone with her partner, and after checking a picture of one of their other cases, we found out that it is a PU. Thank you so much for your help, thanks to your comments I kind of steered the vet into the right direction since we couldn't be there personally.
Hey ya Brutus :) we went up to Bullypooloza and had a blast, then we went on vacation for a week, just trying to catch up on things now :)
Hello there!:) I just stopped by to say thanks for your message :) Ulysses is doing better and he seems to be enjoying himself in the sun. I just love to see pictures of Brutus! he looks like Uly's cousin. They are almost the same age I think. I will upload some pics this week.
