My puppy may have torn his ACL and im going to get him to a specialist next week. Gonna take him to VCA in fountain valley. I wanted to know if anyone had any other recommendations or any insight for that matter.
Please don't take him to Fountain Valley. I used Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Tustin. They are on Edinger near Jamboree. I can't remember the surgeon's last name but her first name is Diane. She is great and so very familiar with bulldogs and their breathing problems. Best of luck.
Hi there. In 2002-04 we lived in Corona, CA and our Pit (Ace) tore his ACL and had to have a TPLO done. That was 8 years ago. Dr. Christopher S. Eich, DVM that did his surgery and he's still there. The place was amazing. They website is Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital Homeand their contact info is Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital, 1371 Reynolds Ave. Irvine, CA 92614, (949) 833-9020. Ace's leg is still going strong after all these years and he just turned 13 I'm happy to say. This is not a surgery you want someone doing if they're not experienced. It's pretty intensive.
If you have any questions about the surgery and the rehab (which I must stress is critical to a full recovery), feel free to PM me. Ace did have to have his other leg done about 1 1/2 years later and he had that done here in Colorado. It's a 50/50 chance they'll do the other leg too. Good luck to you.
I have an excellent resource for you..Animal Specialty Group..on the border of Gendale and Los Angeles..took our rottie there after being referred by our vet.they were wonderful AND a teaching facility. Up on every procedure..medicine and even holistic..like acupuncture. I highly recommend them and can't say enough good about them. They are open 7 days a week and long hours. I can get their phone number if you are interested. Good luck!
