Hey guys, just adding another chapter to the saga of buff, weve been off and on prednizone for along time now and were trying to get off it again for good but buff is already starting to itch alot and were still on the weening off stage. I have read alot of the allergy and itch treatment threads on here and have tried alot of them but i just cant seem to find anything that works like the prednizone does. She has been allergy tested and they said they couldnt find one main thing that shes allergic to just a little alergic to alot of things. i dont know what to do, i know long term prednizone is going to be bad for her but i cant stand seeing her itch and lick that much shes already scratched herself a sore spot by her eye. we have tried several different dog foods but didnt find any of them helped at all, (but maybe we didnt give them a long enough chance) we have started giving her a spoon of plain yogurt at every meal, she takes Nujoint DS and i ordered Nuvet Plus hoping that might help some of her problems (it couldnt hurt). we were recently at the vet again (the university this time) because of her clumsy and seemingly weak legs because we didnt believe that it was arthritis already (she just turned 4.) they agreed with us and they had 3 specialists from different areas of study look at her and they think she has a degenerative nerve problem that makes her back legs not work how they are suppose to, its a relieve to have a better idea of what it is and that its not somthing thats causing her pain constantly, but at the same time its frustrating because they dont know for sure and even if they did the test to know, they cant do anything about it. so its not worth putting her under and taking her muscle and tissue samples just to find out somthing we cant fix. i know this part has nothing to do with the allergies i just thought i would bring it up incase anyone has had a similar problem, it just feels good to say it to a group of people that might understand. anyway long story short im looking for some new or different allergy ideas that you guys have found to work but have little or no side effects. thanks again for all the help to everyone in this group you've been a great help with alot of stuff over the years.
