Guys a lot of people have said to me my bulldog is over weight..... Could any of you shed a light on it for me...... This is glen..... Is he overweight?
Jewel was 60 lbs when weighed at the vet but she is not "rotund." According to the AKC....Body - The brisket and body should be very capacious, with full sides, well-rounded ribs and very deep from the shoulders down to its lowest part, where it joins the chest. It should be well let down between the shoulders and forelegs, giving the dog a broad, low, short-legged appearance. Chest - The chest should be very broad, deep and full. Underline - The body should be well ribbed up behind with the belly tucked up and not rotund. Back and Loin - The back should be short and strong, very broad at the shoulders and comparatively narrow at the loins.
Hi, he looks good to me, but it's hard to tell from the picture, like others said take a picture from above to show his waist.
The general rule to determine if a bully is overweight is you should see a well defined waist, and you should be able to feel the ribs, but not see them. My two guys weigh 45 lbs, and my vet said she would like to see them be 40 lbs. I don't think they look overweight. They are fed 1 cup of Fromm's kibble in the morning, and 1 cup in the evening, and they go on 2 to 3 walks a day in the morning and evening, as well as potty breaks during the day.
Bulldog should have a waistline and you should easily feel his ribs without applying much pressure but not see them as Jimmy suggested take a picture of your boy standing straight from above x
