  • I am so sorry to hear that Logan is giving you fits again :( I wish I could offer you good advice on how to deal with that! Hopefully your hubby will find a job soon! We are about to be in the same boat I am afraid. My husband had worked for the same company for 28 years and thanks to the wonderful economy, they downsized a few years ago and he was forced into early retirement (right after we built this house) :( He didn't work for a couple of years, but has worked at a couple of different places over the past two years and it looks like the company he is working for now has lost their largest customer, so it isn't looking too good. He will begin searching for a new job soon.
I'm not sure if allergies are a contributing factor or not. Vet #1 did mention before that his body just might not "work correctly". The organs of a bulldog can be an irregular shape and size due to their body shape. I just keep praying that he pulls through this and lives a long and happy life. He is absolutely the sweetest dog that I have ever had in my life. His only downfall is that he is a little thief (he continually tries to steal Chewy's food  ) My vet bills are through the roof.....I can't even count how many times we have been to the vet in the last 2 months, and we have spent around $2,500 or more so far :( The bad thing is that I have puppy fever in the worst way. I want another EB really bad, but my husband is very against it because I have been so sad the last two months with Mayhem's illness and Chewy going missing for days.....he thinks they are bringing more sadness than happiness :(
continued.....Living in a rural area, there is no leash law and many people just let there dogs roam around the area....they tear your trash up and just make a mess of things :( I am so sorry to hear that you have been stressed.....I think you need a vacay by my pool very soon :) Grandma is doing well!!!! She amazes me at her age :)
Thanks Tracey! Vet #2 told me that normally they see it in dogs that are 5-7 years old or even older. She has never had a case of chronic pneumonia in a dog his age :( There is a lot of damage to his lungs. I am trying to stay positive and do hope that he gets better. I have been super stressed too.....just too much happening right now. You have as many strays show up as we do......we are the only house on our road, so we tend to get a lot of the dumped dogs. We have found homes for many over the years. The other day my husband left the garage door up....I always keep a travel bag in the garage with a water bowl and some toys for the boys....hubby went outside and two random dogs had been in our garage and stole the toys out of the bag and were in our front yard chewing on them.
I updated the thread, but you must have missed it while your internet is down. His lungs were definitely not worse, and possibly a bit better. The two vets and the specialist are all in agreement that we are dealing with chronic pneumonia. He will finish the antibiotics he is on (another 4-5 days) and the steroids (another 5 weeks or so) and then we just hope that it is cleared up. If/when his lungs clear, they said that he will always be very susceptible to respiratory illness and that his life span will definitely be shorter. That is all that I know at this point :( How have you been? Did you find your newest visitor a home yet?
Sounds like you had an eventful weekend. I remember those days :) I wanted to sleep in to, but my mom called me at 7:30 and said she was coming by on her way to work....no rest for the wicked, I guess :)
Thanks Tracey! I am still in my leggings and a sweatshirt....not planning to do anything today, unless I want to

Mayhem is no longer limping at all, so that is great! His face is looking "bright" again.....no pink undertones and the fur is bright white :) He seems to feel good! We go back to the vet tomorrow for digital xrays to compare to those taken two weeks ago. Praying that his lungs are showing great improvement :)

Luckily Mayhem was feeling well enough that I could let my oldest daughter stay here with him for one night. We were able to go out and celebrate my birthday and stay at a hotel.....I so needed to relax some and just enjoy being with my husband. We had a great time!!!
:heartsign: Thank you so much for all your support and kind words! Means a lot to me!!! I have so much catching up to do
