Hi Guys,
Im looking for some help. I need to find a high carb/High fiber dog food does anyone know of any good brands? Its not for Lily, My friend has a poodle that has developed diabetes and the vet recommended this for her diet....
well not sure bout the carbs but one of the highest fiber foods i have found so far is dogswell nutrisca. i think its like 7% fiber. not sure how many carbs are in it but its rated low glycemic. my pet food store told me that canine caviar was supposedly good for diabetic dogs. i looked and there are some studies suggesting that is the way to go but the theory has always been to have high protein and low carb. i also read that home cooking was the best for this but may not be feazible. @Twice may have more info on a dog with a condition like diabetes. ill keep looking

Now I'm really amazed. Too much Carbohydrates are the main reason dogs are developing diapetes in the first place. Dogs main source of energy should be fat, then the insuline levels stay more stable.
I'm diabetic...this DOES NOT sound correct at all.
Google Dr Karen Becker and once connected to her website, type diabetes into
the Search box...she is a holistic Vet and therefore, understands nutrition and
especially diets good for specific diseases.
