Yep! Cami came here overweight 10 months ago @ 70 lbs. She is a retired
breeder and has a big, ole hanging belly and at 6 yrs old not to active and
hates walks! I got her down to 65 lbs but then got distracted with Mother's
care & other issues and she's back up to 68 lbs Got her on reduced kibble
w/added green beans, trying to not give treats and will try walking again in
Spring...Yep, Yep, Yep! I love Big Cami and want her healthy & long lived
Yes. he's up to 60lbs. I had no idea why he started gaining again. Thought it was because he's still growing, and filling out. Then come to find out Chris, my dear husband, has been giving him an extra 1/4 cup in the morning without telling me. (Blue acts like we starve him). Man, did this lead to a fight! Suffice it to say, I'm back to feeding him in the morning, and Chubby is back to 2 cups a day.
Hi, my two guys are both 23 months old, and weigh 45 lbs each. I don't think they are or look overweight, Bulldozer has a more lean looking body, some people think he looks like a boxer, and Blossom has a stockier build, she has the more bully body, shaped more like a barrel. My vet says she would like to see them around 40 lbs. we feed them 1 cup of kibble twice a day, we add 2 Tbsp, plain unsweetened yogurt to the morning kibble, and we add 1 Tbsp, of salmon oil to their evening kibble. They get only natural treats like cut up apples, banana, strawberries, blueberries, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, cheese strings, and occasionally cottage cheese and peanut butter. I don't think they look overweight, but the vet says it's better for their joints as they get older to be a lighter weight.
Here is pictures of my guys, do they look overweight?
Yes and No. Princess is our overweight bully. When we adopted her a year ago at the age of 9 she was overweight at 55lbs, we were going to try to exercise her a little bit but we found out she had heartworm so exercise was out of the question. She is now 10 and doesn't walk very far at all (she has little tiny legs with big kankles!) and she is always hungry, so it is what it is, she will just be my little girl with a big a Buddha belly!
The other 2 are at their perfect weight. Gio is a tall guy and is about 60lbs, our vet thinks he looks great and should stay at 60. And little Miss.Diva is a healthy 27lbs for a frenchie, she also is at her ideal weight! Gio and Diva both go on a 1-2 mile walk through the woods everyday so that helps with keeping their weight down.
